Brent ran in the Soaring Wings Half-Marathon this weekend in Conway with some guys from church. I debated back and forth for weeks about whether I should go and take the boys or stay home with them. In the end, we left Beckett at home with my mother, and Brent and I took Brody with us to Conway. I couldn't believe that I agreed to leave my baby at home, but it just made the most sense. It was supposed to be really cold the morning of the race, so I would have just had to stay at the hotel room with him, which would have defeated the whole purpose of going in the first place. We also agreed that Brody needed a little one-on-one attention from us, something that he hasn't gotten much of lately. Besides, we were only going to be gone for 24 hours. So, I bit the bullet and did it. And I am so glad that I did. Brody had a blast, and my mom got some awesome bonding time with our new little guy.
Here is Brody on the drive up. He was so excited about getting to stay in a hotel again.
We ate at Marketplace with Jay and Elizabeth Friday night, did a little shopping at Target, then headed to the room to turn in for the night. And boyyyy did I sleep good?!! I didn't realize how badly I needed a full nights sleep until my head hit that pillow.
Brody and I met Elizabeth in the hotel lobby around 7 that morning, ate breakfast, then headed to the race.
It was reeaaally cold that morning, so we were all bundled up.

I sure did enjoy getting to spend some quality time with this little man.

Brody wishing Daddy good luck

Brent and Jay

And they are off!!! Brent isn't actually in this picture. You can see our friend Adam waving in the green shirt. And Mark is beside him in white.

After they started, we drove around some and we were able to see them run through at the 4.5 mile mark and the 9 mile mark, then the finish. Here is Elizabeth and Brody waiting at the 4.5.

I look totally washed out in this picture.

Brody waiting at the finish line.

He was having SO much fun

Mark about to cross the finish line...

And Jay...

And Brent!

Crossing the finish!! He actually finished in about 2:23. They start in waves b/c there were so many people, so this clock was set with the first group that started.

I think his face here pretty much says how he felt right after....Ha!

We went back to the hotel to let the guys clean up, then we went out to eat at Coltons.

Then we headed back home!! We had a great time, and I am very proud of Brent for running his first half-marathon! He did great. But I was ever-so-happy to get back home to Beckett!!
