We received THE phone call yesterday that we HAVE A COURT DATE! We still cannot believe it. I was at my mom's house looking through some of her vacation pictures, when my phone rang. I saw my case worker's name on the screen, but I had emailed her a few questions the night before, so part of me thought this phone call was just regarding those. I jumped up off of the couch and ran into a back bedroom so I could hear her. She casually asked how I was doing and how our day was going, then proceeded to tell me that she was unable to find out some information for me that I'd asked out. Then she said, "No, I wasn't able to find that out for you.......but I do have you a COURT DATE!" I just couldn't believe it. I think I may have even screamed a little. Ha.
She informed me that our court date is on Wednesday, August 13! Even sooner than we had imagined! The families that received dates the last couple weeks were assigned dates at the end of August, so we were hoping for at least a September court date. Only God! She quickly discussed a few other dates with me - the fact that we need to leave the US no later that August 6, when we can return, etc. Imagine my surprise when I realized I will be in Korea ON MY BIRTHDAY! What an amazing birthday it will be. We are also relieved that Brody will get to travel with us without having to miss any school! We will return home just a couple days before school starts. He may be jet-lagged, but he will be there! Such a huge answered prayer. I'm just absolutely blown away at God's hand in all of this.
We soon ended the call, with her promising to email me immediately with all of the information we needed to know. With shaking hands, I calked Brent to inform him of our news!! I don't think he believed me at first! Ha. Such an exciting morning.
We spent the next several hours celebrating and sharing our news with our family! And by yesterday's end, we had our entire trip booked! So, it's official. WE ARE GOING TO KOREA! We are going to meet our son in five short weeks. The magnitude of that is almost more than I can even imagine. I will get to tell him face to face how much we love him. I will (hopefully!) get to hold him, and his brothers will finally get to play with him. Just 5 weeks!!
We have a lot to do in the next few weeks, and I am already feeling overwhelmed. It's not like I've have two years to prepare for this or anything! ;) Please continue to pray for us as this journey continues to unfold. As you may remember, we will return home from this trip without Lennox. We will wait here for several weeks while everything is finalized in Korea. We hope to be able to travel back to pick him up sometime in October at the latest.
So, yes, it's true! The countdown to Lennox has begun!
