Things are a changin'

Okay, well I just wanted to let everyone know that baby-to-be's name is not going to be Jett. No real reason...guess I just had a change of heart...as Brent put it. We still don't know what his name will be. It may be that everyone (including us) will just find out when he gets here. I never thought I would have such a hard time with this! Oh well, guess I still have plenty of time. Just wanted to put that out there - didn't want any grandmothers running out and having Jett put on a bag or anything...lol. (And yes, we have told Brent's mom not to do the blanket yet.)

Lake Claiborne

Mom and I took Brooke and Brody camping at Lake Claiborne this weekend. And I'm not talking about that "sissy" kind of camping with RV's and air conditioning and television. :) I am talking about the real thing - tents and campfires and critters. Actually, it was really a very pleasant weekend. Highs in 80's, but it would get down in the 50's at night, so we stayed very cool. It was great. And the kids loved it too. Here are some pics!

Our home away from home. And we were so proud of ourselves. We had it completely put up in about 10 minutes!
Roasting marshmallows - my favorite part of camping :)
And Brody's too!!

If you look very closely you can see a squirrel in this tree, with a marshmallow in his hands (do squirrels have hands? paws?). Anyway, Brody dropped one of his marshmallows before he starting roasting it, and this squirrel ran right over, picked it up, and took off up this tree, and munched away. It was hilarious.

Asleep in the tent...

Playing on a raft in the water. And no worries...the water they were playing in only came up to Brody's knees when he stood in it. I know it doesn't look like it, but I promise, it did. And he loved his floaties. Wouldn't go near the water without them!

21 weeks!!

Well, we have made it over halfway!! It's crazy to think that this little one will be here in about 4 months. But I am so excited! BabyCenter.com says that he is about 10 1/2 inches long and weighs about three quarters of a pound. It says he is about the size of a carrot, just not quite so thin...lol.

Here is my 21 week belly shot taken last weekend. I feel like I am definately looking pregnant now. It took forever with Brody, so I am glad to get to enjoy it a little longer this time. I bet I won't be saying that come August! HA!

Here are a couple pics from last weekend when Brooke stayed the night with us. She and Brent hung my birdhouse that I got for mothers day.

And, here are a few pics from today. Brent, Brody, and I went to Monroe to buy Brent some running shoes for Fathers Day. A little early, I know. But he thought he needed them now.
Brody loves that our new vehicle has a rear entertainment system. Car trips are a breeze now!

Brody was sooo excited about getting to "ride the horsies" in the mall. So, it was practically our first stop. I have been getting a little lightheaded lately (I am relating it to pregnancy hormones and a cold), so I was afraid to ride with him. This is seriously the fastest carousel I have ever seen...lol. It used to scare Brody! So, anyway, Brent rode with him instead...and Brody loved it.

And, we had a nice relaxing lunch at McAlisters before heading home. Yay for a relaxing Friday and Holiday weekends!

Mother's Day 2009

Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there!! I hope your Mother's Day was as wonderful as mine was. There is nothing more wonderful than celebrating these little people who have made us moms. Here is a sweet poem I found that I wanted to share. Just a wonderful reminder to always be thankful for these children that God has blessed us with, no matter how crazy busy we get.

Dear Lord, it's such a hectic day
With little time to stop and pray
For life's been anything but calm
Since You called on me to be a mom
Running errands, matching socks
Building dreams with building blocks
Cooking, cleaning, and finding shoes
And other stuff that children lose
Fitting lids on bottled bugs
Wiping tears and giving hugs
A stack of last weeks mail to read
So where's the quiet time I need?
Yet when I steal a minute, Lord
Just at the sink or ironing board
To ask the blessings of Your grace
I see then, in my small one's face
That you have blessed me
All the while
And I stop to kiss
That precious smile

I know that I kiss this precious smile hundreds of times every day! I can't seem to get enough!
My mothers day started out last weekend when Brent bought me a maternity shirt and dress. Everything that I have from Brody's pregnancy is winter, so I am having to start all over with summer things! Then on Friday, Brent surprised me with a pair of Yellow Box flip-flops that I have been wanting! Yay! On Sunday, I cooked for my mom and Brent's mom here after church. We had a yummy pork tenderloin in the crock pot, mashed potatoes, green beans, caramelized carrots, bread, and tea. Oh, and Oreo pie for dessert. Yuuuummmmm. I also got a beautiful potted plant (that I really hope I can keep alive) from Brody (and Karen) and a pretty bird house that looks like a wood/glass chapel like Thorncrown where we got married (from Mom and Brooke).
It was a wonderful (but rainy) day that I am so happy I was able to spend with my family. I am so blessed to be a mom!

Batter's Up!!

Yes, I know. Another baseball post. Seriously, it's all the kid wants to do and talk about. I mean, this is how he watches cartoons in the mornings.....cap and helmet on.

On Friday nights, we head to the Complex for Brent's church league softball games. Always alot of fun. And Brody loves it too. Of course, we always end up bringing home several gallons of sand along with him, but I guess that's just a little boy for you. What will I do when I have two of them?!

We usually get home around 10:00 or later on Friday nights, then Brooke has softball games on Saturday morning. I guess it's a good thing Brody enjoys going to games, huh?!

Brooke and Brody before her game...

It is soooo cute to watch these 4 and 5 year olds play softball. I can't wait until my boys are old enough to play. Only 2 more years for Brody!

Brooke on the pitcher's mound...ready to start the game!
****Neat Side Note*** She is using Ryan's very first T-Ball glove, so it is over 20 years old!

And here she is up to bat...

Good Hit!!

On 3rd base, ready to head for home....Check out that "game face" (Click on the picture for a close up to get the full effect...lol)

Protection at an early age...

Here is a cute video of Brody playing baseball with Brent. Brody loves to get out Brent's old baseball equipment to wear. Well, tonight he discovered the cup. And, of course, Brent had to show him right where it went. Boys. This video doesn't give his baseball skills justice, but the cup thing was so funny, I had to post it. Enjoy. Oh, and sorry that it is sideways. I didn't think about that when I was filming it and turned the camera upright. Oops.

Wow, has it really been 4 months since I last blogged? I think so. Yea, sorry about that. I have no excuse other than life is just busy, and I put it off. We have had an exciting year already. Brody is doing just great. He is 2 years old, and more fun than ever! He talks to us constantly, loves to get dirty, and can hit a baseball better than me! I know, that's not saying much, but still. We think he is pretty impressive. He is no longer in his crib. He has been sleeping in a full size bed for a month or so now. I cannot believe what a big boy he is!

Here are a few pictures I snapped of him at Garvan Gardens in Hot Springs. These were taken last month.

And as most of you know, Baby #2 will be here in September! We are just thrilled to be adding another little member to our family, and cannot wait to meet him! Yep, it's another boy! I think it will be so awesome to see Brody with his brother.
I will be 20 weeks on Sunday, so I am halfway there! It is really going by fast now. The first couple months seemed never-ending, due to extreme fatigue and lots of nausea. But now that that has passed, the weeks are just flying by. I am trying to enjoy every second of it. I can already feel him moving around, even occasionally from the outside...it is my favorite part!
We don't have a name yet. We have gone through several options, but have slowly marked them off the list. One by one. It seems so much harder this time! I will be sure and let you all know when we decide.
Here are a few pics of the little guy. We didn't get any good face shots or anything (he was facing down), but I will share what we do have.

The top of his sweet little head....

Perfect little spine....

And this is to prove that he is indeed a boy! He wasn't shy at all about showing us his...umm...goods. In fact, seemed very proud of them :)
